BACKGROUND: ArtsWave, the region’s largest funder of the arts, kicks off its annual community campaign on Friday, February 8th on Fountain Square at Noon. 2013 ArtsWave Campaign Chair George Vincent will announce the fundraising goal for the campaign in brief remarks beginning at noon. Last year, over 38,000 individuals, foundations and corporations contributed $11.2 million to support local music, theatre, dance, museums and more that make the Greater Cincinnati region a great place to live.
The kick-off event includes a fun, participatory dance performance by Pones, Inc., ice carving, an appearance by Cincinnati Reds’ mascot Mr. Redlegs, and free ice skating courtesy of 3CDC from Noon to 1 p.m. Free cookies and cocoa courtesy of CrEATtions by Melody and Coffee Emporium will be available. Audience members are invited to wear red hats, scarves, and gloves to join in the festivities.
ArtsWave anticipates a crowd of between 200 and 400 people for this special event. Best time to capture dancing and ice carving will be between 11:45 AM and 12:15 PM. Media trucks seeking parking information should contact Christy Samad at 3CDC, 513-621-4400.
