Landor Associates is honored to be opening its doors to the local creative community for an evening to benefit Mike Amann. Mike is a passionate, active contributor to the local design community and owner of The BLDG art studio in Covington, Kentucky. He also happens to be the husband of one of Landor’s own, Associate Design Director Lesley Amann. Mike is currently fighting to beat stage four neuroendocrine cancer. Cincinnati’s design community is coming together to show support for their colleague and friend.
“Miketoberfest,” as the event has been named, will benefit Mike, Lesley and their newborn son, Kaizer, and will take place on October 25, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. in the loading dock of Landor Associates, located at 110 Shillito Place, Cincinnati, OH 45202.
The event builds off of the incredible turn out of love and support from Posters and Prayers, the poster sale event hosted at Arnold’s in September to benefit Mike.
“All of us at Landor are proud to be hosting Miketoberfest in support of the Amann family,” said Mary Zalla, Landor’s Chief Executive Officer. “We will use creativity, expression and the best the season has to offer to help those who mean so much to so many. We cordially invite the entire creative community in Cincinnati to join us for this important event.”
The evening will feature live music from local bands, local food trucks, specialty treats and locally-designed merchandise, as well as walking tours of the historic building. “Shillito’s Abandoned” tours will lead groups through the floors beneath the Landor offices, offering a glimpse into the rarely-seen underworld of the former Shillito’s Department store. For $10, guests will be given the opportunity to discover a world frozen in time, and largely untouched since the department store closed its doors in 1997.
All proceeds from the night will benefit the Amann family, who learned about Mike’s condition earlier this year. Lesley, his wife, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Cincinnati’s creative community for all their support.
“Mike and I have been overwhelmed by the support we’ve received from our colleagues in the design community in Cincinnati,” Lesley Amann said. “I can’t even believe the generosity and kindness we’ve been given throughout this time.”
“Mike and Lesley have given so much to the creative community, and this is our opportunity to give back,” said Valerie Aurilio, Executive Creative Director. “Our hope is that the Miketoberfest event will be a fun and inspiring way for many more people to show their love and financial support to the Amann family.”
Admission to the benefit concert is $15 for the evening. An extra $10 will allow admission to the “Shillito’s Abandoned” walking tour. Anyone wishing to make a donation who is unable to attend, can make a donation directly to the family through the online fundraising site youcaring.com.
