CINCINNATI, Ohio—The Cincinnati Arts Association’s Weston Art Gallery in the Aronoff Center for the Arts announces a return to its original Artist Studio Tours with North by Northside, a fun-filled springtime art event on Sunday, May 18, 2014. North by Northside revives the Weston’s popular Key in to Art benefit series (2006-09) that guided intrepid art lovers to Cincinnati’s most vital art studio enclaves, including the neighborhoods of Brighton, Camp Washington, Findlay Street, and downtown. This year’s event will offer a walking tour of various artist sites and retail establishments along Northside’s colorful Hamilton Avenue, the home of a burgeoning art and culture scene.
As the premier presenter of local and regional artists, the Weston Art Gallery has unique relationships with the most intriguing emerging and established artists in the area and their working spaces are as interesting as they are. Colorful and cluttered, they are critical to an artist’s productivity. Artist studios are the seedbeds of creativity—places of inspiration, creation, and final production. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet the artists and see works in progress, experience the color and smell of raw materials, and take in a distinctive Cincinnati neighbor-hood. Guests are invited to tour twenty-two participating artist studios along and adjacent to Hamilton Avenue stretching from Hoffner Street (south) to Chase Avenue (north). Individual artist studios and three buildings, Off the Avenue Studios, Smithhaven Studios, and About Space, which house multiple studios, will be highlighted. Featured artists include Farron Allen, Jymi Bolden, Denise Burge, Abby Cornelius, Christopher Daniel, Claire Darley, Kate Demske, Linda Einfalt, Richard Fruth, Margot Gotoff, Frank Herrmann, Bukang Kim, Matt Kotlarczyk, Julie Lonneman, Rick Mallette, Cheryl Pannabecker, Patrick Williams, Alice Pixley Young, and many more!
