Cincinnati, OH-September 30, 2012: ArtsWave is pleased to announce the addition of Alecia Kintner to its leadership team as Chief Operating Officer. An experienced administrator and fundraiser, Ms. Kintner comes to Cincinnati from Hartford, Connecticut.
As Chief Operating Officer, Ms. Kintner will work side-by-side with ArtsWave’s President & CEO to manage ArtsWave staff and volunteers, to develop new, innovative fundraising strategies and to build the organization’s capacity for managing growth and change.
“Alecia’s demonstrated success with the Greater Hartford Arts Council made her an outstanding candidate for this new leadership position at ArtsWave,” says Mary McCullough-Hudson, ArtsWave President & CEO. “Her ability to see the needs and opportunities across the community and to create new partnerships and expanded roles for the arts speaks directly to our efforts in Greater Cincinnati. We are thrilled to have her join our team. ”
Ms. Kintner notes that ArtsWave was a key “benchmarking” organization for her in her ten years at the Greater Hartford Arts Council, a hybrid united arts fund and local arts council. As the Deputy Director, she oversaw core functions and staff involved with fundraising, grant-making, arts education, cultural promotions, and community programs. In addition to directing the United Arts Campaign that ranked 10th in the country, Kintner conceived and launched an Employer Services program that linked the arts to employment location decision making and helped local businesses attract and retain workers. During her tenure, workplace giving to the united arts fund grew from $500,000 to $1.2M annually. In 2006, she received the Michael Newton award from Americans for the Arts for leadership in the united arts fund movement.
“For many years, I have been inspired by how ArtsWave engages the community and the broad base of support for the arts that it has built in Cincinnati,” says Ms. Kintner. “I look forward to being part of ArtsWave’s continuing success story.”
A Los Angeles native, Kintner has lived and worked in Moscow, New York City, and the Bay Islands of Honduras, as well as Hartford. After the birth of her twins in 2007, she and her husband Michael moved to Roatan, Honduras to focus on family life for the babies’ first few years. As a development consultant on the island, she started a fundraising and communications program for healthcare provider Clinica Esperanza. Upon returning to Hartford, she became Vice President of Advancement at the Connecticut Science Center.
Ms. Kintner will be consulting with ArtsWave part-time starting in November and begin working full-time in January 2013.
