LIGHT UP OTR RETURNS

Presented by Agar and Peanut Butter & Jelly Co. (PB&J)

Event benefits the Freestore Foodbank

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CINCINNATI – November 20, 2012 – The 3rd annual Light Up Over-the-Rhine (Light Up OTR) is back again, here to celebrate community and the new developments, and the restaurants, and store fronts that make our community a vibrant mecca of posterity.
Presented by Agar and Peanut Butter & Jelly Co. (PB&J), both proud supporters of everything Cincinnati, Light Up OTR will once again gather progressive minds – and community supporters – to reflect on a year of incredible growth – and change in OTR. An 8-block radius will be framed with the soft-glow of 2,000 luminaries.
On Friday December 14, 2011, young professionals, community leaders, artists and residents will join together to celebrate the 3rd year of this tradition in the blooming urban landscape.
“Over-the-Rhine is my home,” said Micah Paldino, CEO of Peanut Butter & Jelly (PB&J), “It’s where I eat, where I play and where I’m most comfortable. There’s an inherent built in community here that can’t be matched anywhere else in Cincinnati. The inspiring work of our outspoken activist residents are the reason that action has been taken to support the dreams of my neighbors. Through their support, and that of entrepreneurs and business people, we are making our dreams come to life.”
This year set in the newly renovated Washington Park, Light UP OTR will expand the footprint of previous year’s celebrations, with luminaries that will spill onto Elm St., Race St., and go as far as Main St. The warm glow will symbolize safety, unity, and the coming of the holiday season.
“In our third year, Light Up OTR continues to exemplify the core of this vibrant local community. We feel privileged to be able to bring the event to the new Washington Park and host such a great community event year after year,” said Andrew Salzbrun, Managing Partner of AGAR.
A 30-foot tree will be mounted as a permanent holiday fixture at KAZE, OTR’s newest restaurant (located at 1400 Vine St). Light Up OTR will benefit the Freestore Foodbank, where those wishing to sponsor a cart (not mandatory) can do so here: http://lightupotr2012.eventbrite.com/ The afterparty held at Kaze comes fully equipped with Framester Photo Booth, and chill fun, known well by residents of OTR.

Those wishing to volunteer can meet at Washington Park to assemble the luminaries and help with set-up. See below for a schedule of events:

· 6:00 P.M. Volunteers can gather together to assemble luminaries at Washington Park.

· 8:00 P.M. Teams will be coordinated to disperse the luminaries throughout the neighborhood.

· 10:00 P.M. All volunteers and guests will gather at KAZE (1400 Vine St.) for the third annual lighting of the OTR Christmas tree.
